Julie Joy Clarke was born in Melbourne, Australia. She has one son Erin David Powell. She is an artist, writer and cultural theorist who has exhibited artwork in Australia, Egypt, Italy, Russia and Texas. Her articles have been published widely in academic books and journals in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Norway and America. Her creative writing and visual poetry is held in rare book archives in Melbourne, Holland, Italy, Russia and USA.

Let’s Shake: Karen Casey I participated in Karen's project that involved shaking the hand of an indigenous Australian. The casts of the handshakes (approximately 300) were installed by Karen at Federation Square in June 2008.
